М.І. Костомаров як творець освітньо-культурного середовища Рівного (1844–1845)

Abstract

У статті простежуються культурні комунікації фундатора української історіографії М. І. Костомарова у Рівному (1844–1845) після його призначення на посаду старшим учителем історії місцевої гімназії крізь призму його професійних і товариських зв’язків із учителями та учнями, а також окремими мешканцями міста. Наголошується на підпорядкуванні його культурних практик основній цілі приїзду: науковим пошукуванням з історії, етнографії та фольклору українського народу. Акцентується, що основне коло культурних взаємин Костомарова складав гімназійний колектив. Заохочуючи своїх учнів до запису фольклорного матеріалу, молодий історик виступив новатором комунікування із ними у площині неформальних взаємин. З огляду на відчуженість учительських колективів у повітових містах та містечках Правобережної України від світського міського товариства, осердя якого продовжували складати вихідці з польської шляхти, наголошується, що культурні контакти з мешканцями Рівного у Костомарова були спорадичні. Стверджується, що натомість обмеженість комунікаційних практик з містянами компенсувалася листуванням із представництвом університетських кіл Харкова. Робиться висновок про співучасть Костомарова у формуванні освітньо-культурного середовища Рівного.The article traces cultural communications of the founder of Ukrainian historiography M. I. Kostomarov in Rivne (1844–1845) after the appointment as a senior History teacher in local gymnasium. These connections are viewed through the prism of his professional and friendly contacts with teachers and pupils, and some town residents. The article emphasizes that his cultural practices were subordinated to the main goal of his coming: scientific research in history, ethnography, and folklore of the Ukrainian people. The research stresses that the staff of the gymnasium were the main circle of Kostomarov’s cultural connections. Encouraging his pupils to record folklore materials, a young historian became an innovator of communication with them in the sphere of informal communication. Taking into account the alienation of teachers' collectives in the county towns and settlements of the Right-bank Ukraine from the secular town community, whose core continued to be composed of Polish gentry, the article shows that Kostomarov’s cultural contacts with the residents of Rivne were sporadic. The article states that limited communication with townspeople was compensated by correspondence with Kharkiv university circles. The research comes to the conclusion that Kostomarov was engaged in the formation of educational and cultural environment of Rivne.
