Переселенський рух із західноукраїнських земель (кінець ХІХ – початку ХХ ст.): масштаби, основні напрями, характерні особливості

Abstract

Автором у статті висвітлено історію переселенського руху із західноукраїнських земель до країн Американського континенту наприкінці ХІХ – на початку ХХ ст., подано причини такої масової еміграції населення, у тому числі й із Наддніпрянської України, наведено, на основі статистичних даних часописів, кількість емігрованого та переселеного населення по окремих регіонах, розкрито характер та методи вербовка селян «за океан», визначено основні місця роботи переселенців, охарактеризовано умови їхньої праці.The author of the article describes the history of the migration movement from the West Ukrainian lands to the countries of the American continent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The causes of such mass emigration of the population, including those from the Dnieper Ukraine, are presented, based on the statistical data of the periodicals, the number of emigrated and resettled the population by separate regions, the nature and methods of recruiting peasants "for the ocean" are revealed, the main places of work of migrants are determined, the conditions of their work are described.
