Стратиги Херсона по данным новых памятников сфрагистики IX-XI вв.

Abstract

Одними из важнейших источников по истории средневекового Херсона являются памятники сфрагистики. При недостаточности письменных свидетельств и данных эпиграфики об этом важном стратегическом пункте Византии с Северном Причерноморье привлекаемый вид археологических памятников имеет особую ценность. Введение в научный оборот каждого нового моливдовула дает нам возможность открывать все новые и новые неизвестные страницы истории византийского Херсона, его политических, церковных и экономических связей. Пожалуй одной из интереснейших групп этого рода материала являются печати, некогда принадлежавшие лицам возглавлявшим имперскую администрацию — стратигам фемы Херсон.One of the most interesting groups of sphragistic monuments are seals which belonged to the people who headed the emperial administration - stratigs of Cherson thema. The seals of Cherson stratigs have been known practically since the beginning of researching Chersonesos. The find of a complex of seals of a supposed archives in Cherson, among them there were many seals unknown before and the materials from private collections allow us to return to this section of monuments and considerably enlarge their quantity. Besides analysing the newly obtained data we can make more precise some moments in the Byzantine history which reflect the formation and development of thema arrangement in Taurica and define the role and place of Cherson in the process and also find the answers to some questions connected with the structure of administrating this Byzantine province
