Леонард Совінський – перший перекладач творів Тараса Шевченка польською мовою

Abstract

У статті йдеться про письменника Л. Совінського (1831-1887), який першу освіту отримав у школі смт Меджидіж нині Хмельницької області. Доведено, що йому належить почесне місце серед перекладачів Тараса Шевченка польською мовою. Він познайомив із творчістю Кобзаря своїх побратимів А. Гожалчинського, В. Сирокомлю, які, на жаль, за майстерністю перекладу не змогли досягти того високого рівня в художній довершеності, що її здійснив Л. Совінський, який добре володів українською мовою, а отже, у нього кожне Шевченкове слово на місці й відповідає оригіналові.The article tells about the writer L. Sovinskyi (1831-1887), who received his first education in school in the town Medzhybizh (now Khmelnytskyi region). It is proved that he occupies honorable place among the translators of Taras Shevcheko’s works into the Polish language.He introduced his fellows A. Hozhalchynskyi, V. Syrokomlia to the creative work of the great poet, but they, unfortunately, according to their skills of translation weren’t unable to achieve that high level of artistic excellence that was carried out by L. Sovinskyi, who knew the Ukrainian language well and, therefore, his every word of Shevchenko’s translations was in the proper place and matched the original.
