The article deals with the materials of the Fund 128 of the State Archives of Chernihiv Oblast (DAChO). Many documents related to the Hlukhiv region are stored here and therefore are of particular importance to local historians and historians. Many materials of this fund reveal certain aspects of social life, judicial institutions, population demographics, etc. This article analyzes a document that relates directly to the Moscow Stone Gate. The fortress of Hlukhiv lost its strategic importance at the end of the 18th century, that is why the project of redevelopment of Hlukhiv in 1802 envisaged its liquidation. Fortress shafts were excavated and ditches were filled in 1808. At the same time, according to some researchers, the Moscow Gate was demolished. But in a recent archival document, we can see a discrepancy in the dates: if this was about the destruction of the gate in 1808, then the case dating from 1809 concerns the repair of the Moscow Stone Gate. Introduced to scientific circulation document on the repair of the Moscow Gate in 1809 at least makes its biography at least a few years longer, but the urban development of Hlukhiv in the early nineteenth century sooner or later it would raise the question of the functionality of fortifications in the central part of the city. When the Moscow Gate was actually dismantled, it is unknown how the document could refer to another, the Kyiv Gate, whose name has been subject to various variations over the centuries.
