"Географія" Птолемея як ключ до стародавньої історії України

Abstract

У статті йдеться про Амадоцьке озеро, Амадоцькі гори, народ амадоки і місто Амадока, тобто об’єкти згадані у «Географії» К. Птолемея. Відсутність на теперішніх картах Амадоцького озера дало підставу називати його гіпотетичним або й писати про «фантазії давніх географів». Автор наводить чимало аргументів на користь того, що ця велетенська водойма у давнину таки існувала. Її утворювали греблі, влаштовані у верхів’ях рік Західний Буг, Стир, Горинь, Случ, Збруч, Південний Буг, Серет, Стрипа. Затримка води призвела до затоплення величезного простору від верхів’їв Збруча на сході, до Західного Бугу на заході, тобто на віддалі 130-160 км. Ширина складала 40-60 км. Штучна водойма полегшувала сполучення між різними річковими системами – головними транспортами і торгівельними артеріями тих далеких часів.The article is about the Amadoc Lake, the Amadoc Mountains, the Amadoc people and the Amadoc city. All these objects Claudius Ptolemy mentioned in his Geography. The absence on the modern maps the Amadoc Lake gave reason to call it hypothetical or even talk about «fantasies of ancient geographers». The author brings a lot of arguments in favor of this giant waterma existed in ancient times. It was formed by dams arranged in the upper reaches of the West Boog, Stir, Gorin, Sluch, Zbruch, Southern Bug, Seret, Strip. Water retention led to the inundation of vast expanses from the upper reaches of Zbruch in the east, to Western Bug in the west, that is at a distance of 130- 160 km. The width was 40-60 km. The artificial reservoir facilitated communication between different river systems – main transports and trade arteries of those days.
