Abstract

An investigation of the number of chromosomes in the spermatocytes of prepupae and pupae of the apple, fruit and willow mothes showed that Y ponomeuta rorellus H b. is completely independent species of the ermine moth family (n-29). Y. mallinellus Z ell. and Y. padellus L., both having 31 chromosomes in the haploid set, are "twin" species Andergoing a process of sympatric speciation.
