Abstract

Bohdan Medwidsky. Fragments of Traditional Retellings in Canada. The article examines both traditional retellings of Ukrainian emigrants in Canada and the newer tales and jokes rooted in the life of immigrants. The author considers macaronic humoristic texts, which include both Ukrainian and a mix of Ukrainian and English, to be the first step to the exclusively English texts now prevalent among Canadian Ukrainians.
