Переваги та недоліки висвітлення теми Голодомору зарубіжними дослідниками

Abstract

У статті розглянуто книгу «Червоний голод. Війна Сталіна проти України» Енн Епплбом та вказано на основні позитивні й негативні аспекти цієї праці. Попри cхвальні відгуки на видання від українських і світових дослідників, у ньому виявлено фактологічні й термінологічні помилки. Також названо основні прийоми, до яких вдається авторка книги для заперечення геноцидного характеру Голодомору. Це, зокрема, нерозуміння ширшого історичного контексту, наведення поодиноких фактів для широких узагальнень, довільне викладення порядку подій, використання недостовірних джерел і водночас відсутність посилань на окремі важливі наукові праці з цієї теми тощо. Окремо виділено взаємно суперечливі твердження, що їх допускає авторка. Наголошено також на «відлунні авторитету», яке спотворює сприйняття книги українськими науковцями, оскільки перешкоджає неупередженому її оцінюванню. Утім, позитивна роль «Червоного голоду» полягає в приверненні уваги закордонної спільноти до теми Голодомору 1932–1933 років.A book, Red Famine. Stalin’s War on Ukraine by Anne Applebaum is reviewed critically in the article. The main positive and negative points of this work are analyzed. In spite of the approving comments of Ukrainian and foreign researchers on the edition, several factual and terminological mistakes have been noticed. In addition, the methods by which the authoress denies the genocidal nature of Holodomor are specified. In particular, these are the incomprehension of a complete historical context, the adduction of individual facts for wide conclusions, the events description in an arbitrary order, the use of unauthentic sources, and, at the same time, the absence of references to the separate important scientific works on the topic, etc. Moreover, mutually controversial statements of the authoress are distinguished. The authority echo is also emphasized. It distorts the perception of the book by Ukrainian scientists because it prevents them from estimating it impartially. However, the positive sense of the Red Famine is in the attraction of the world community's attention to the problem of the Holodomor of 1932–1933.
