The present article deals with the peculiarities of Ihor Yakovych Kolubovskyi philosophical and scientific works. He is the son of our compatriot from Hlukhiv, Ya.M. Kolubovskyi, the former professor and Rector of the Hlukhiv INO (now it is Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University). Ihor Kolybovskyi is a contemporary of the post-revolutionary (1917) period of Soviet history, whose creative contribution in the field of literary, translation, and bibliographic work must be impartially evaluated by future researchers. The philosophical biography of this talented scholar vividly reflects the fate of the entire generation of liberal intellectuals in the Bolshevik period. It allows understanding of time more objectively and accurately – according to Kant, as the basis of any mental activity (thought) –in the details of the biography and content of creativity. I .Ya. Kolybovskyi’s biographical research in the context of social and cultural life at the turn of the two epochs suggests that any pressure on philosophy and philosophers, construction of prohibitory redoubts gradually destroys free creative thought and, despite the preservation of external forms and attributes of scientific activity, is not accompanied by the development of scientific knowledge, let alone the unlocking of their spiritual and creative potential, and even more so in unleashing their spiritual and creative potential. This study shows Ihor Kolybovskyi’s creative development from his first printed work «Philosophy in England after world war (1919–1921)» but it wasn’t the first work in his career. The study was published in the second and, for the great peaty, at the last «Nachala» edition (1922). He was invited to the cooperation with magazine due to the translation of worldfamous thinker, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature Rabindranath Tagore «Nationalism» from English together with Tibetologist M.I. Tybiankyi and Kolubovskyi’s acquaintances with prominent philosophers and thinkers. The following two Kolubovskyi’s philosophical works were published in the scientific journal «Mysl» as well as explorations of prominent philosophers E. Radlov, L. Karsavyn, F. Zelinskyi, O. Kotelnykov, Yu. Berlovych. From November 1921 until January 1924 Kolybovskyi worked as a researcher at the Historical Research Institute at Petrograd University (Philosophy Section). He clearly understood that he couldn’t continue working with philosophical problems because of danger being deported or killed. From 1924 to 1930 he earned his living by literary work, being the director of a bookstore, in 1930-1932 journalized for the magazine “Science and Technology”, which focuses on natural science issues. The rest of the life he made a lot of different attempts in the field of critique and history, exhibitions activity but they were not very significant.
