Олексій Харсекін та його внесок в етрускологію

Abstract

Метою статті є висвітлення невідомих загалу сторінок наукової творчості знаного етрусколога Олексія Харсекіна, зокрема його внеску до інтерпретації етруської мови. Методи, що використовуються, складають поєднання історико-біографічного, історико-критичного та комбінаторного методу історичної лінгвістики. Наукова новизна дослідження полягає у висвітленні невідомих до цього часу відгуків і рецензій вітчизняних і зарубіжних етрускологів на монографію та запропонований Харсекіним метод інтерпретації етруських написів, а також відповіді на питання, чому йому й будь-кому ще не вдалося віднести етруську мову до певної мовної сім’ї чи групи і до кінця розтлумачити всі наявні етруські тексти. Висновки. Наукова праця О.І. Харсекіна мала свої підйоми та спади. Почавши як вчитель англійської мови, він у середині 1950-х рр. зацікавився давнім народом етрусками та їхньою таємничою нерозгаданою мовою. Мрія про віднайдення ключа до етруської мови стимулювала його вивчати різноманітні джерела, перш за все, корпус опублікованих на той час етруських написів. Він також долучився до збирання й каталогізації нових етруських написів на теренах СРСР. Харсекін встановив контакти з радянськими та іноземними істориками і філологами, які намагалися вирішити етруську проблему. Він опублікував цілу низку статей та дві монографії, брав участь у багатьох наукових конференціях з історії та культури етрусків. Проте він не зміг наблизитися до задовільної інтерпретації етруської мови через недостатню філологічну підготовку. Втім, вповні зрозуміти й класифікувати етруську мову ще й досі не вдалося нікому, адже археологія поки що не надала лінгвістам довгих різноманітних етруських і паралельних їм написів на зрозумілій інтерпретаторам мові, а також таких, які мають суспільний зміст, тобто складаються не лише з особистих імен чи спеціальних релігійних термінів.The aim of the publication is to highlight the unknown pages of scientific activity of well-known etruscologist Alexei Kharsekin, in particular his contribution to the interpretation of Etruscan language. The used methods are a combination of historical-biographical, historical-critical and combined methods of historical linguistics. Scientific novelty of the study is highlighting previously unknown responses and reviews of local and foreign etruscologists to the monograph and the interpretatoion method for Etruscan inscriptions proposed by Kharsekin, as well as the answer to the question of why he and anyone else did not manage to attribute the Etruscan language to a certain language family or group, and to explain completely all the existing Etruscan texts. Conclusions. The scientific activity of O.I. Kharsekin had its ups and downs. Starting as an English teacher, he became interested in the ancient Etruscan people and their mysterious, unsolved language in the mid-1950s. The dream of discovering the key to the Etruscan language stimulated him to study various sources, primarily the corpus of Etruscan inscriptions published at that time. He also participated in the collection and cataloging of new Etruscan inscriptions in the USSR. Kharsekin established contacts with Soviet and foreign historians and philologists who were trying to solve the Etruscan problem. He published a number of articles, two monographs, and participated in many scientific conferences about history and culture of the Etruscans. However, he was unable to interprete Etruscan language satisfactory due to insufficient philological training. However, no one all over the world has yet managed to understand and classify Etruscan language completely, because archaeology has not yet provided linguists with long, diverse Etruscan and parallel inscriptions in a language understandable to interpreters, as well as the inscriptions with social meaning which consist not only of personal names or special religious terms.
