Українська тематика на сторінках Am Ur-Quell

Abstract

Стаття присвячена 130-річчю від часу заснування народознавчого часопису Am Ur-Quell, а також висвітленню на його сторінках українознавчої тематики в контексті австрійського гуманітарного дискурсу кінця ХІХ ст. Незмінним випусковим редактором журналу був австрійський етнолог і фольклорист єврейського походження Фрідріх Саломо Краусс, який затвердив за собою статус провідного спеціаліста в галузі південнослов’янського фольклору, а сам журнал перетворив на одне із найвпливовіших німецькомовних фольклорних видань кінця ХІХ ст. у Європі – Am Ur-Quell поширювався далеко за межі Австро-Угорщини і був, відповідно, виразником і фіксатором народознавства як науки в країні. Потужна популяризація фольклористики журналом Am Ur-Quell спричинила утворення в 1890-х роках більше десятка нових фольклорних товариств у Німеччині та Австро-Угорщині. Публікації з української тематики з’явились на сторінках Am Ur-Quell вже в перший рік видання.The article deals with the 130th anniversary of establishing the ethnological journal Am Ur-Quell [At the Original Source in German], as well as with the coverage, on its pages, of the place of Ukrainian studies in the context of the Austrian discourse of the humanities of the late 19th century. The journal’s constant editor-in-chief was the Austrian ethnologist and folklorist of Jewish origin Friedrich Salomon Krauss. He asserted his status as an outstanding specialist in the field of South Slavonic folklore and transformed the journal itself into one of the most influential German-language folkloric editions in Europe in the 1890s. Am Ur-Quell spread far beyond Austria-Hungary and was, accordingly, a representative and recorder of ethnology as a science in the country. Am Ur-Quell held a powerful popularization of folklore led to the formation of more than a dozen new folkloric societies in the 1890s in Germany and Austria-Hungary. Ukrainian-themed issues appeared on the pages of Am Ur-Quell as early as the initial year of the edition.
