Abstract

The article describes the history of cartography and historiography of the study of ancient defensive wallsof Southern Bessarabia (Budjak) in the XVIII-XIX centuries. In the scientific circulation introduced before unknown archival topographic maps and plans, as well as a complete list of these objects. These data and materials can be used for the interpretation and dating of ancient walls in this region.
