Домашнє насильство в традиційній культурі українців

Abstract

У статті на основі аналізу етнографічних джерел зроблено спробу розглянути та проаналізувати тривалий час замовчувану тему: домашнє насильство в традиційній селянській культурі середини ХІХ – початку ХХ ст. Авторка доходить висновку, що загалом не схвалюючи фізичне насильство, традиція все ж толерувала його, якщо воно застосовувалося з «доброю» метою: напоумлення, навчання, виховання тощо. Побиття «за діло» провиною не вважалося й розглядалося як внутрішньо сімейна справа. З огляду на те, що традиційна українська культура була патріархальною і влада зосереджувалася в руках чоловіків, саме ця група найчастіше й чинила агресію щодо підлеглих жінок та дітей. Щоправда, останні могли зазнавати побоїв від батьків обох статей, які мали необмежену владу, що закріплювалася в існуючий ієрархічній структурі та моральних цінностях.An attempt to consider the problem of domestic violence in traditional peasant culture of the mid-19th – early 20th centuries is proposed in the article based on the analysis of ethnographic sources. This issue has been concealed for a long time. It is concluded that, in general, tradition hasn’t approved of physical violence, been tolerant of it if used with a kind purpose: advice, instruction, upbringing, etc. Beating for a deed hasn’t been thought of as a fault, and it is considered a family affair. Taking into account the fact that traditional Ukrainian culture is a patriarchal one and a rule is concentrated in men’s hands, just this group has the most often committed aggression against the inferior women and children. Though the latter can suffer a beating from both parents as they have absolute authority, which is attached to the existing hierarchical structure and moral values.
