On Products of Delta Distributions and Resultants

Abstract

We prove an identity in integral geometry, showing that if 𝘗ₓ and 𝑄ₓ are two polynomials, ∫dxδ(𝘗ₓ) ⊗ δ(𝑄ₓ) is proportional to δ(𝑅) where 𝑅 is the resultant of 𝘗ₓ and 𝑄ₓ.
