Історико-етнографічне районування України: сучасний стан і наукові перспективи

Abstract

У статті йдеться про низку важливих проблемних питань, що стосуються сучасного стану історико-етнографічного районування України. Найбільша проблема – відсутність етнографічного атласу України. Через це етнологи мають спиратися на інші надійні джерела – на Атлас української мови, особливо під час локалізації різних етнографічних одиниць та з’ясування їхніх суперечливих меж. Такими є південна і східна межі історико-етнографічної Волині. Залучивши результати досліджень провідних українських істориків, доведено, що південна і східна межі побутування волинських говірок наприкінці XIX – на початку XX ст., що їх встановили українські діалектологи, сформувалися вже в XV–XVIII ст. Тому й етнографічні межі історико-етнографічної Волині не можуть суттєво відрізнятися від меж поширення волинського діалекту.

This article is dedicated to a chain of important issues concerning the current state of historical and ethnographic division into districts of Ukraine. The absence of the Ethnographical Atlas of Ukraine is the largest problem. Therefore, the ethnologists have to base themselves on other reliable sources, such as The Ukrainian Language Atlas, especially during the localization of various ethnographic units and identification of their disputable borders. The Southern and Eastern boundaries of the historical and ethnographic Volyn belong to this category. Attracting the corollaries of the research conducted by distinguished Ukrainian historians, it is proved that the Southern and Eastern borders of Volyn dialects usage in the late XIXth–early XXth centuries, established by Ukrainian dialectologists, have been formed already in the XV–XVIII centuries. That’s why the ethnographic boundaries of the historical and ethnographic Volyn cannot significantly differ from the borders of Volyn dialect dissemination.
