Рух за автокефалію Української Церкви в перший рік революції: настрої, тенденції та внутрішній спротив серед духовенства (за матеріалами газети «Нова Рада»)

Abstract

Метою розвідки є вивчення розмаїття настроїв і тенденцій руху за автокефалію української Церкви серед духовенства в перший рік революції. На основі публікацій газети «Нова Рада» авторка розглядає ключові аспекти цього процесу, зокрема внутрішній спротив, відсутність належної підтримки з боку новоствореної влади, а також практичні кроки з упровадження ідеї незалежності. Методи. У роботі застосовано історико-аналітичний метод для визначення суспільно-політичного контексту подій, контент-аналіз для вивчення публікацій газети «Нова Рада», а також порівняльний метод для зіставлення різних позицій щодо автокефалії. Системний підхід дозволяє розглядати цей рух як багатовимірний процес, що розгортався під впливом як внутрішніх обставин, так і зовнішніх політичних умов. Новизна дослідження полягає в комплексному аналізі публікацій «Нової Ради» як важливого джерела для вивчення процесу церковної автономії в 1917 р. Уперше акцентовано не лише на боротьбі за автокефалію, а й на настроях духовенства, труднощах ініціаторів руху та рівні підтримки їхніх ідей у суспільстві. Це дозволяє глибше зрозуміти механізми формування української релігійної незалежності в період доленосних змін. Висновки. Дослідження засвідчує, що, незважаючи на революційний поштовх до обговорення автокефалії, її реалізація зіткнулася з потужним опором значної частини духовенства й не отримала завершеного оформлення в тогочасних політичних і суспільних реаліях.

The aim of the research is to study the diversity of sentiments and trends in the movement for the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church among the clergy in the first year of the revolution. Based on the publications of the «Nova Rada» newspaper, the author examines key aspects of this process, including internal resistance, the lack of proper support from the newly established government, and the practical steps taken to implement the idea of independence. Methods. The study applies a historical-analytical method to determine the socio-political context of events, content analysis to study the publications of «Nova Rada», and a comparative method to contrast different positions on autocephaly. A systemic approach allows for the consideration of this movement as a multi-dimensional process, unfolding under the influence of both internal circumstances and external political conditions. The novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive analysis of the publications of «Nova Rada» as an important source for studying the process of church autonomy in 1917. It focuses not only on the struggle for autocephaly but also on sentiments of the clergy, challenges faced by the movement’s initiators, and the level of support for their ideas in society. This provides a deeper understanding of mechanisms behind the formation of Ukrainian religious independence during a period of crucial change. Conclusions. The research demonstrates that despite the revolutionary push for the discussion of autocephaly, its implementation encountered strong resistance from a significant portion of the clergy and did not achieve full realization in the political and social realities of the time.
