Языковые особенности социолекта рок-музыкантов в современном английском языке

Abstract

Статья посвящена рассмотрению вопросов социальной стратификации современного английского языка. В ней проанализированы особенности социолекта рок-музыкантов. Примеры, использованные в статье, выбраны из словарей субстандартной лексики и интернет-ресурсов.

Стаття присвячена питанням соціальної стратифікації сучасної англійської мови. У ній проаналізовані особливості соціолекту рок-музикантів. Приклади, використані у статті, вибрані зі словників субстандартної лексики та англомовних інтернет-ресурсів.

The article is devoted to the questions of social stratification of modern English. Different ways of defining social dialects in modern linguistic science are considered and analyzed. The matter of special attention and close analysis is the sociolect of rock-musicians in modern English. The place of rock-music sociolect in Bondalyetov’s socio-communicative classification is identified. It is seen as a dialect of professional group, united by common activity and interests. Closely connected to rock-music the formation of social dialect of rockmusicians started back in 50-s, when rock-music was arising. This social dialect inherited elements of vocabulary of musicians who played other styles of music, which were a basis for rock-music, like gospel, country and blues. The semasiological analysis of vocabulary of the social dialect of rock-musicians is carried out in order to single out main lexico-semantic groups and rows of synonyms. The reflection of cultural characteristics of rock-musicians in their social dialect is also taken into consideration. In this respect, social dialect of rock-musicians is hugely interconnected with social dialect of drug addicts and slang. The examples used in the article were selected from the dictionaries of substandard English and Internet-resources.
