Михайло Могилянський крізь призму щоденника, мемуарів, епістолярію: історико-психологічний нарис

Abstract

Мета статті – на підставі джерел особового походження (переважно опублікованих) зробити спробу психолого-біографічного аналізу постаті письменника, літературознавця, критика, журналіста Михайла Могилянського (1873–1942) в конкретно-історичних обставинах місця і часу, подати сприйняття його особистості сучасниками, показати його ставлення до своєї малої батьківщини – Чернігівщини та її людей. Робота ґрунтується на засадах біоісторіографічного методу. Новизна роботи полягає в тому, що проаналізовано головні здобутки української гуманітаристики у вивченні доробку М. Могилянського, в оприлюдненні джерел особового походження, які він залишив нащадкам. Авторки зосередили увагу на аналізі процесу кристалізації національної й мовної ідентичності героя нарису, головних рис вдачі, а також подій громадсько-політичного життя й особистих взаємин, які сформували цю людину. Узяті в сукупності названі джерела особового походження, наукові праці, белетристика М. Могилянського та література про нього дали змогу зробити певні висновки щодо особистості цього «роботящого чернігівця», які підтверджуються обсягом написаного ним, видатною працездатністю, зацікавленістю новими темами, напрямками досліджень, інтересом до життя в усіх його проявах, відкритістю та щирістю у ставленні до людей, любов’ю до рідного краю. Факти доводять, що М. Могилянський завжди вважав себе чернігівцем, був у курсі справ чернігівської громадськості. Ця небуденна особистість приваблює не лише літературним хистом, але й контроверсійністю світогляду, неординарністю вчинків, багатством талантів – вчений, перекладач, бібліограф і завзятий бібліофіл, журналіст, громадський і партійний діяч.

The purpose of the article is to make an attempt to analyze the psychological and biographical figure of the writer, literary critic, journalist Mykhailo Mohyliansky (1873–1942) in the specific historical circumstances of place and time, to present the perception of his personality by his contemporaries, and to show his attitude to his small homeland – Chernihiv region and its people, on the basis of personal sources (mostly published). The work is based on the principles of the biohistoriographic method. The novelty of the work is that it analyzes the main achievements of Ukrainian humanities in the study of M. Mohyliansky ʼs work and the publication of sources of personal origin that he left to his descendants. Authors focused their attention on the analysis of the process of crystallization of national and linguistic identity of the hero of the essay, the main traits of his character, as well as events of social and political life and personal relationships that shaped this person. Taken together, these sources of personal background, scientific works, Mohylianskyʼs fiction and literature about him made it possible to draw certain conclusions about the personality of this «hardworking Chernihiv citizen», which are confirmed by the volume of his writings, his outstanding ability to work, interest in new topics, research areas, interest in life in all its manifestations, openness and sincerity in his attitude to people, and love for his native land. Facts prove that M. Mohyliansky always considered himself a citizen of Chernihiv and was aware of the affairs of the Chernihiv community. This extraordinary personality attracts not only with his literary talent, but also with the controversy of his worldview, extraordinary actions and wealth of talents: a scientist, translator, bibliographer and avid bibliophile, journalist, public and party activist.
