Образ «грішника» за матеріалами сповідних розписів Київської митрополії 1730–1760-х рр.

Abstract

У статті досліджується один з аспектів народної побожності в Гетьманщині 1730–1760-х рр., а саме відвідини жителями великодньої сповіді та причастя, точніше – їх пропуск. Зібрано й проаналізовано вікові, соціальні, ґендерні характеристики осіб, які, згідно зі сповідними розписами, упродовж Чотиридесятниці пропустили обов’язкову щорічну сповідь і причастя в парафіяльного ієрея. Використання статистичних методів дозволило вичленити найтиповіші характеристики таких осіб, яких для зручності об’єднано під умовним визначенням «грішники», та намалювати їх збірні портрети, розділивши всіх відповідно до причин «гріха» на декілька категорій. Простежено динаміку змін у ставленні представників різних вікових і соціальних груп населення до церковних таїнств та зроблено спробу пояснити причини, які найчастіше перешкоджали людям вісімнадцятого століття бути ревними християнами (принаймні з формального погляду).

The article considers an aspect of the popular religiosity in Het’manshchyna during the years 1730–1760, namely the attending of the Easter confession and Holy Communion by the people, or their non-participation. The age-related, social, and gender characteristics of the persons, which, in accordance with the concessionary lists, made an omission of the obligatory annual confession and communion before the parochial priest during Forty day fast are collected and analyzed. Statistical methods implementation enables the determination of the most typical characteristics of such persons, which were named «sinners» as a matter of convenience, as well as it permits describing their collective portraits, after having classified them into several denominations in respect of the cause of the «sin». In the article were observed the dynamics of transformation of the attitude of the different-aged groups’ members toward the church sacraments. The explanation was proposed concerning the reasons, which generally put a crimp into being a fervent Christian for a person of the eighteenth century; at least, formally.
