Abstract

Samples from two populations of Wilhelmia equina bianchit Rubz. (Diptera, Simu- lidae) were studied relative to 25 linear and meristic characters in order to evaluate their taxonomic significance. The characters appear to be almost constant within a population. In interpopulation analysis a character significance directly depends on a transgression level of its extremal variability, give no exact idea of the W. equina bianchüi taxonomic position and therefore, require certain additional methods.
