Українізація шкільної освіти на Чернігівщині у 1917 році: аналіз за матеріалами місцевої та центральної преси

Abstract

Стаття досліджує процес українізації освіти на Чернігівщині в 1917 р. крізь призму аналізу місцевої та центральної преси. Автор розглядає різноманітні аспекти цього процесу, включаючи внутрішній спротив, підтримку, а також практичні кроки з упровадження україномовної освіти. Методи. Для досягнення поставленої мети використано дескриптивний аналіз газетних матеріалів, зокрема статей та звітів з педагогічних з’їздів і нарад учителів, що відбувалися на території Чернігівської губернії у 1917 р. Збір і аналіз даних здійснювалися з урахуванням ставлення вчителів до українізації та їхніх аргументів щодо переваг і недоліків цього процесу. Новизна. Основною новизною роботи є комплексний підхід до вивчення українізації освіти на місцевому рівні крізь призму аналізу преси. Автор показує, які аспекти українізації були актуальними для місцевих громад та як ці питання відображалися в газетних публікаціях. Висновки. Стаття демонструє, що процес українізації шкільної освіти в Чернігівській губернії був складним і багатогранним. Хоча існували значні труднощі та опозиція, але завдяки активним заходам учасників педагогічних з’їздів та громадських ініціатив було досягнуто певних успіхів у впровадженні української мови та українознавчих дисциплін у шкільну програму. Важливою була підтримка вчителів та участь місцевих інституцій у сприянні українському освітньому процесу.The purpose of the publication. The article explores the process of Ukrainization of education in the Chernihivschyna in 1917 through the lens of analyzing local and central press. The author examines various aspects of this process, including internal resistance, support, and practical steps for implementing Ukrainian-language education. Methods. To achieve the set goal, a descriptive analysis of newspaper materials was used, in particular, articles and reports from pedagogical congresses and teachersʼ meetings held in the Chernihiv province in 1917. Data collection and analysis were carried out considering teachers ʼ attitudes towards Ukrainization and their arguments regarding the advantages and disadvantages of this process. The scientific novelty. The main novelty of the work lies in a comprehensive approach to studying the Ukrainization of education at the local level through the prism of press analysis. The author shows which aspects of Ukrainization were relevant for local communities and how these issues were reflected in newspaper publications. Conclusions. The article demonstrates that the process of Ukrainizing school education in the Chernihiv province was complex and multifaceted. Despite significant difficulties and opposition, thanks to the active measures of participants in pedagogical congresses and public initiatives, certain successes were achieved in introducing the Ukrainian language and Ukrainian studies disciplines into the school curriculum. The support of teachers and the participation of local institutions in promoting the Ukrainian educational process were crucial.
