Горизонтальне перенесення внутрішньоклітинних бактерій роду Wolbachia від коменсальних кліщів Tyrophagus noxius до Drosophila melanogaster

Abstract

Ендосимбіотичні бактерії, особливо внутрішньоклітинні види родів Wolbachia та Cardinium, відіграють важливу роль у популяціях їх хазяїв, впливаючи на співвідношення статей останніх. Проте причини їх широкого розповсюдження серед комах досі мало вивчені, оскільки основним способом їх поширення є вертикальне перенесення від батьків до потомства. Вперше показано, що подібне перенесення також можливе у системах з коменсалами.Insect endosymbiotic bacteria, especially intracellular species of the genera Wolbachia and Cardinium, are known to play an important role in populations of their hosts by influencing the sex ratio of the latter. However, the reasons of their wide spread among insect taxa are still poorly understood, as their primary transmission way is the vertical transmission from parents to progeny. We show for the first time that a similar horizontal transmission is possible in commensal systems as well.
