Символика «вырая» в белорусской литературной балладе

Abstract

In the article the notion of «vyrai» in literary ballads is analysed. In Belorussian culture this image tends to acquire the symbolic meaning of an ideal country. It is contrasted with everyday reality and its inaccessibility to people is the reason for serious conflicts in ballads. The image of «vyrai» usually appears in times of social instability and reflects authors’ dissatisfaction with reality.
