З листування видатних українських науковців (Л. Биковський та В. Кубійович)

Abstract

У статті вперше друкується взаємне листування двох видатних українських науковців-емігрантів Льва Биковського та Володимира Кубійовича, яке було виявлене в канадських архівах. Воно проливає світло не тільки на їх працю над фундаментальною Енциклопедією Українознавства, але й на роботу обох учених над спогадами, бібліографічну працю Биковського, пошуки незбереженої п’єси поета Юрія Липи тощо. Визначено найбільш цінні свідчення листів, вказано на причини початку і завершення кореспонденції.The article publishes for the first time the mutual correspondence between two prominent Ukrainian émigré scholars, Lev Bykovskyi and Volodymyr Kubiyovych, which was discovered in Canadian archives. This correspondence sheds light not only on their work on the fundamental Encyclopedia of Ukrainian Studies but also on their efforts in memoir writing, Bykovskyi’s bibliographic research, the search for the lost play by poet Yurii Lypa, and other scholarly endeavors. The most valuable testimonies from the letters are identified, and the reasons for the beginning and end of their correspondence are discussed.
